RSS Feeds

To be perfectly honest, when I first read over this assignment, I really didn't think creating a homepage for RSS feeds would benefit me in any way. I have a lot of my favorite sites bookmarked, and have a routine of every time I get on the internet the sites I frequent. However, I was pleasantly proven wrong (as I am most of the time when it comes to technology). RSS feeds are more beneficial than bookmarks, because I can get a sneak preview of what the website is publishing before I visit it. I mean, if there's nothing worth reading on the BBC's feed, then I don't have to waste my time searching through the site looking for stories worth examining. A couple of the sites will really help me in the classroom as well. The tab for "This day in history" will offer a fun side note to relay to students so that the class isn't all about text readings. If there's an event posted that interests them, we can spend the first 5-10 minutes of class talking about it and get their minds interested in the lesson. Geographic photo of the day helps because you can spark a lesson by tying in the picture to the lesson you have planned for the day. All-in-all, I think I'll continue to keep an eye on these feeds, and also continue to expand my page whenever I stumble across a new site worth following.
